We have many great reads for children, from board books for babies to picture books, beginner readers, easy readers, first chapter books and beyond to independent reading.

It’s not just fiction though; we have many non-fiction books such as dinosaurs, space, craft, environment, history and more.

For information on our children's programs please visit our events calendar.

Come along to the Wodonga Library and join in with one of our fun filled Storytime sessions.

Storytime supports literacy in the early years of your child’s development.

We will enjoy songs, rhymes, finger play and of course books.

Tuesday, 10.30am (newborn to 18 months) and, Wednesday 10.30am (18 months to 3 years).

Please note: Storytime is not held during Victorian school holidays.

1000 Books Before School

Sharing stories with babies and young children helps develop literacy skills that will prepare them for reading at school.

The 1000 Books Before School program is a great way to track your child's reading progress as you work towards building these important skills.

  • Visit the Wodonga Library customer service desk to register and get your kit.
  • Colour or place a sticker on your Reading Record each time you read together with your child.
  • Each time you reach a milestone in your Reading Record, bring it in to the library for a special reward.
  • Every book that your child completes, or actively  listens to, counts – this includes stories read at Storytime sessions, daycare, playgroup, kindergarten, as well as the same book over and over again. You can read books from anywhere – not just library books.
  • The program finishes once your child reaches 1000 books, or starts school. Congratulations!

School Holiday Programs

Every school holidays we run special themed programs for children. These occupy children with new skills and could focus on technology, storytelling, gaming, craft or performance.

Every summer we also run the Summer Reading Club where children can take up a reading challenge and join our events. Make sure you book in early as these programs fill quickly!
